Horizons for Green Development (Horizons) is a Jordanian not-for-profit organization registered in 2014 specializing in green development, water and renewable energy. Initially, sister organization to Future Pioneers for Empowering Communities (FPEC), most of the programs implemented between 2014 and 2016 are under FPEC’s umbrella. Horizons works in Jordan and in Tunisia as of August 2018.
Realizing the 2030 Sustainable Development goals by adopting the NEXUS approach; integration of water, energy and food security sectors is the strategic objective Horizons strives at throughout its programs. This goal is carefully deliberated through strengthening capacities, raising awareness, initiating communication, infrastructure and cooperation with stakeholders both at the decision making level or in close collaboration with local communities. Since establishment, Horizons invested in several activities to promote civic engagement, socio-economic, environment, climate change, and WASH projects.

THE CLIMATE ACTION NETWORK (CAN)
In August 2017, CAN Arab World elected Mr.El-Akhras, Chief Executive Officerat Horizon for Green Development as the Chair of CANAW Board for the next two years. CANAW represents Al Mashreq and Al Maghrib regions that consist of more than 99 members.
INTERNATIONAL UNION FOR CONSERVATION OF NATURE (IUCN)
In January 2017, Mr. El-Akhras was nominated as the IUCN National committee chair to Jordan. IUCN is a membership union uniquely composed of both government and civil society organizations. It provides public, private and non-governmental organizations with the knowledge and tools that enable human progress, economic development and nature conservation to take place together.
